he Sabha Parva contains one of the most pivotal events in all of Indian literature — the game of dice. Yudhishthira, the eldest Pandava, is invited to a rigged game of dice by Shakuni (Duryodhana's uncle). In his dharmic commitment to honor the challenge, Yudhishthira gambles away his wealth, his kingdom, his brothers, and finally Draupadi herself. Draupadi is dragged into the assembly hall and publicly humiliated as Dushasana attempts to disrobe her. Krishna miraculously protects her. This event becomes the immediate cause of the Kurukshetra War and raises profound questions about dharma, honor, and the silence of the wise in the face of injustice.

Duryodhana said: "O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Listen to the main treasures I saw at the Pāṇḍava's, brought by the lords of the earth from everywhere.

All the govāsana and dāsamīya brāhmana-s came to please the immensely fortunate and great-souled Dharmarāja. They brought three khārvā-s of tribute, but were barred entry, and stood at the gate.

O great king! As tribute, the śūdra kings brought one hundred thousand slave girls from the Kārpāsika region. They were dark and slender, with long hair and adorned in golden ornaments. They also brought raṅku hides, fit for the best of brāhmana-s.
